Kansas – Hundreds of Veterans go on honor flights every
year. One Kansas man is working hard to send a few of
them on a flight for free one can at a time.
We’re going for a record breaking year, we did 17 last
year and I’m shooting for 25 or 30 this year.” Warren
Vincent started Cans 4 Kansas honor flights five years
So far he’s sent thirty-one veterans on honor flights
from money he collected donating cans.
“I enjoy talking to the veterans the ones that’s been on
the flights, they impress me the most, because it’s the
trip of the lifetime, a lot of people call it one last
mission for the military veterans.” Warren started his
mission in memory of his two uncles who fought in world
He said putting int he hard work into the collection is
“That’s a big deal, hearing their stories and most of
them they get teary eyed and I get teary eyed with them
and that’s one of the big things is listening to their
stories,” said Warren.
Now he’s expanding his operations, selling American
flags to help raise money.
I’m hoping that with memorial day coming up I’m hoping
we’ll get a lot of orders.”
Warren has a partnership with a flag making company up
in Nebraska called MSA, they sell these flags to him at
a reduced price and ship them to him for free and he’s
already sold out of his first shipment.
The five dollar profit from each flag goes straight to
the mission, helping Warren, to honor more veterans.
“I’m really proud of the support we have, that’s what
it’s all about.”
Warren has a donation site for cans in McPherson and
also travels to places like Salina and Lyons to pick up
cans on Saturdays.
